About The Trust and the Project...

We are a charitable trust based in Rotherham, South Yorkshire, UK. In 2008 we recieved at grant from HLF to carry out an oral history and research project into the lives of women who have worked in Industry across the region over the past 100 years. This blog is here to keep everyone up to date on the progress of the project and where we hope it will go, it is also here so that people can add comments or ideas for the project. Hope you enjoy reading! If you need any more information email: industry.sywdt@btconnect.com

If you have missed us…

Betty Cook and Sue Loy We have been busy for the last two months visiting the women who came forward to be part of the project. we have met women of all ages and who have worked in many different types of industries. The volunteers have also been busy practising their interviewing skills and putting them to use!

We have met women who have worked at Samuel Foxes in Stocksbridge during the war, women who work for Fast Track in Doncaster, women who have worked at KP nuts, women who have worked in the cutlery industry in Sheffield and also women who were involved in the ‘Women against Pit Closures’ during the 1984 strikes.

We still have more interviews to taking place and have begun the arduous task of transcribing the interviews and turning them into something that everyone can have access to!
